Hi, I’m Dolores, an animal lover,  musician, self-taught chef and  fiction writer. I love reading, writing, spending time with family  and friends, and watching mysteries and crime documentaries. I want you to get to know the person behind this blog, and share my story.

I came to veganism late in life, for 39 years, I was a meat eater. I hadn’t made the connection between the animals I was consuming  and the suffering that goes on. Why do we love some animals and kill others? It makes no sense to me, but I came to that conclusion late. I picked up a cookbook called A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches by Tyler Kord. He’s not vegan, but has a vegan version of some of his sandwiches at his sub shop in New York City Number 7. I didn’t even know what a vegan was, so when Tyler mentioned a vegan sandwich I googled it. I found out that a vegan doesn’t consume any animal products, I thought this was very curious and interesting. I did more research and came across No Happy Cows by John Robbins, and Cowspiracy. I read John’s book and watched the film. I was so moved, and knew I wanted to go vegan immediately. I couldn’t stand that animals were suffering because I lived a certain way. But my lifestyle wasn’t  conducive to it at the time. Once I was on my own, I went vegan, I stayed vegan for about 8 months. I loved this new lifestyle and way of cooking.

But I began not to feel well, I lacked energy and vigor, I did research into what vitamins to take and how to supplement my diet. Nothing seemed to work, The only thing that made sense to me was to become vegetarian.

This is the path I”m currently on, my blog is a work in progress just like me. I feel better and have more energy and have incorporated eggs and cheese back into my diet. I will strive to include vegan versions of recipes whenever possible. When I started this blog, I was vegan, hence the vegan recipes, now I’m planning on featuring a mix of vegetarian and vegan recipes. I’m on a journey to recreate my favorites in vegetarian form. I hope you enjoy your time here and come back often.
